Leeds smash Stoke to stay top

Well it seems that this time around, Leeds aren’t cracking under the pressure. They played Stoke tonight, knowing a win would put them back top of the league.

It took them a while to get going though. A penalty converted by Klich. Helder Costa made it 2 just after the break, and a 3rd followed from centre back Liam Cooper.

The game was already done, but goals from Hernandez and Bamford sealed the rout. It takes Leeds to 81 points, and keeps them 6 points ahead of 3rd place Brentford. For Stoke they remain just one point above the relegation zone.

Leeds are top of the league

Swans are flying

Well it is turning into quite the battle for a playoff place. As it stands Forest are 5th with 68 points, and then there is only 7 points down to 9th place Derby. Swansea have found good form.

They picked up a 3-1 victory at St Andrews. Goals from Brewster, Cabango and Fulton enough to seal the win. It means they are now just a point behind bitter rivals Cardiff in 6th.

A big win from Preston at Hillsborough, also pushed them back into 8th, just 3 points of the playoffs. Derby are also still in the hunt. With 4 games to go, it should be a good finish to the playoff battle.

5 teams 2 places

Relegation scrap

On the other side, it’s just as close. Only 6 points seperate bottom team Luton, and 18th place Middlesbrough. It’s made even more interesting by the fact, Wigan and Sheffield Wednesday, may have point deductions.

Middlesbrough picked up a vital 3 points, with a 2-0 win at Millwall. Goals from Assombalonga and Fletcher, gave them the win. Hull who sit in the last relegation spot, lost 2-1 at Bristol City.

There is so much still to play for. In a league where anyone can beat anyone, the relegation battle is far from over. Who has what it takes, to keep their side in the league.

4 games to save themselves

And finally….

There are some big games the next few days. Tomorrow night, Huddersfield take on Luton in a battle at the bottom. Fulham take on Cardiff, with both teams currently in the playoffs.

Then on Saturday two games that stick out, Brentford travel to Derby, and Preston take on Nottingham Forest. Brentford looking to pressure West Brom and Leeds, where as the other 3 teams are fighting for playoff spots.

Crucial games at both ends of table
